About the course

STCW Refresher Training / Updated Proficiency in Fire and PST

STCW Basic Training Certificates need to be updated every 5 years in order to comply with requirements introduced to the STCW Code in Manila 2010.

It is mandatory for all Seafarers and Superyacht Crew serving on Commercial vessels over 24 meters in length, to be able to provide documentary evidence of having updated their training within the past 5 years.

Failure to to do so could result in failure of the vessel to pass inspection in the event of a control by the Port State Authorities.  Port State Control (PSC) is the inspection of foreign vessels in national ports to verify that the vessel’s equipment and conditions onboard comply with the requirements of International regulations, and that the ship is manned and operated in compliance with these rules.

Seascope run Refresher Training over one and a half days in both Antibes and Liverpool.  There is one full day on the Fireground, and half a day dedicated to Survival at Sea (PST).
