About the course

The STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Firefighting (AFFU) programme provides theory development for seafarers who already hold the STCW Advance Firefighting certificate.

This training is required for all seafarers with designated safety duties who hold an advance firefighting certificate as part of the STCW 2010 amendments’ mandatory updating certification requirements. Under the STCW 2010 modifications for Advance Fire Fighting, this course will provide the delegate with the requisite refresher training.

This is a theoretical, class-based course that covers a wide range of topics. It covers firefighting methods, communication and coordination, ventilation control, fire precautions, injured person care and control, and the procedure for communicating with shore-side fire fighters.

What you will learn

• Control fire fighting operations aboard ships
• Organize and train firefighting teams
• Inspect and maintain fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment
• Conduct investigations and create reports on fire-related occurrences

Prerequisites

To be eligible to attend this course all candidates must hold a Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting Certificate (STCW Reg VI/3 para 1 & Sec A-VI/3) or recognised equivalent pre 31 January 2000 (i.e. MNTB 4 Day Fire Fighting Course ).

Upon completion candidates will be issued with an STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Firefighting certificate approved under the MARSHALL ISLANDS Authority
