GWO Enhanced First Aid Course
About the Course
Our Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Enhanced First Aid Course is a specialist training programme designed for individuals working in the wind energy industry, especially those deployed in high-risk, remote, or offshore environments.
This course goes beyond basic first aid — equipping participants with advanced life-saving skills, extended casualty care techniques, and the confidence to act decisively in emergencies where professional medical support may be delayed.
Whether you’re responding to severe trauma, medical emergencies, or prolonged evacuation scenarios, this certification prepares you to provide effective care with competence and confidence.
What You Will Learn
Enhanced Patient Assessment & Scene Management
Participants will learn structured approaches to assess and prioritise casualties, manage incident scenes, and communicate effectively during emergencies until advanced help arrives.
Advanced Life-Saving Techniques
Training includes advanced CPR and AED use, airway management, spinal injury precautions, and recognition/treatment of life-threatening conditions.
Trauma & Medical Emergency Response
Participants will gain hands-on experience in controlling severe bleeding, treating shock, managing fractures, recognising heart attacks and strokes, and responding to seizures, allergic reactions, and other critical medical scenarios.
Remote & Prolonged Casualty Care
Focused on real-world industry needs, this module teaches how to stabilise, monitor, and care for casualties over extended periods — vital when working offshore or far from immediate medical services.
Scenarios & Practical Application
Throughout the course, trainees engage in realistic scenario exercises that simulate common and complex emergencies encountered in wind turbine environments, enhancing decision-making and practical skills under pressure.
